Yeah I know I need that capability, it is next on my list if I keep the car. I was going to get a 98-2000 corvette but I may just stick with what I got, I only have 60k miles on it now. The more I think about it the better I like the thought of not having a car payment.

^^^^Tell me about it.
Heave you seen the new Tibs? Pimp.

Yeah the interior is really nice on them.
I am seriously thinking of increasing the boost. I just need a pulley swap and some larger injectors. That would be pushing it though for reliability on the stock internals. Honestly I don't know what the fuck I will end up doing, lol.

You just need something to tune with man. You can pickup mad power with the right tune as long as you have monitoring equipment. More boost isn't always the answer although it helps (to a point)!

They make a unichip for the car, I am not sure what the price is though. I think you can adjust timing with it.

You should be fine with that. Just make sure you always use High Octane Fuel. When I had my SRT, I tuned mine to a 12.1 spike and it would slowly fall to 11.2 at redline. After messing with the wga spring I was able to spike 12.0 and slowly fall to 11.7 at redline. From what I've read 12.0 is the most you want to see on a street car on pump gas. However most tuners like to richen it up as you approach redline to help reduce spark knock. I say you should be fine with your tune. Now if you decide to go with alcohol injection, you will be able to get away with a leaner A/F. When I had the alcohol injection on my srt, I was spiking 12.5 and falling to 12.2 at redline.

I had alcohol injection but the setup was a cheap-o cooling mist kit and it sucked so I sold it. I may get another one later on, I found a nice used progressive smc kit for $300 I may get.

On the topic of tuning:
Many non-stock FI tunes I see blow smoke like crazy when the driver stomps the gas.
Isn't this the sign of a bad, overly-rich tune?
Seems like if you're fumigating the car behind you then your probably washing your cylinder walls too?
When does a tune go from "safe" to just a crazy waste of fuel?
mrphotoman- 02-27-2007
I have no cats and it still does not blow any smoke at all.

I have no cats and it still does not blow any smoke at all.Cool.
When/if I go FI I really don't want a pig-rich tune just to be "safe".. I want a GOOD tune.
I've seen a lot of Cobras and Hondas with tunes that blow a ton of smoke.

When I was at 4psi I just ran a 12.5:1 a/f ratio and it was fine. I think most of the guys here can steer you in the right direction. Are you going supercharged or turbo?

It's a ways off though to be honest.
I'm in no big hurry, just gathering parts here and there.

That will be cool, how much power do you expect out of it?
So far I have no problems with my setup, I drive it everyday. Unless you get on it the car drives like stock. I still get 27mpg and it is reliable, I just got back from a 425 mile round trip drive with no problems.

75% increase in power should be nice.
Not looking to build a race car, just making my dd a little more exciting.

I blow black at idle on the Mustang in humid (read moist) weather and it runs at 14.8-15 something at idle. Cam overlap.
What you see with the black smoke when they get on it is actually typical. Many cars like a lot of enrichment on tip-in. Sam's car wouldn't run worth shit when we tried to take it out.
Many of the outlaw and street renegade cars do that the hole 1/4 mile.
