Car Tuning?
Sup, I just rebuilt the Venge and threw some extra goodies in it, and guess what...I'm having problems with it. I can drive it around all day fine, pulls strong, starts easy, don't smoke, gets excellent gas milage. But, when I get to about 8-9 lbs of boost it act likes its falling completely on its face. It wont quit or nothing, but it just acts like it can't take that much. Which is bullshit because before the rebuild it handled it fine. So here I am, in my little red Venge, don't nobody pick on it yet till I get it fixed. Anyone know what might be causing this problem? Do I need to break down and take it somewhere to get it looked at? Or is this something I might be able to handle from home. My buddy told me it sounds like I'm blowing the spark out of the plugs? Is that possible? I just put Denso Iriduim plugs in it gapped at .042'' in it before the rebuild and it was doing great, but now their not? Maybe this is Gods sick way of making fun of me and trying to get me to buy MSD Ignition crap...Well, Any help is good help!

So you're running a totally stock ignition? I'd say either you have too much gap on the plugs or your putting too much power down for the stock igniton. You may want to try out some NGK copper plugs. They won't last near as long but are a lot cheaper and you can gap them. If you can post what model iridiums you're using I can probably give you the copper model #. You could also be pulling timing due to a lean/knock condition. Do you have any means of logging your AFR/Timing? What are you going to use to tune the car with? What size injectors?

Sounds like it is time for some ECU, fuel system, and ignition upgrades...

The Injectors I'm using is a 660cc with a completely adjustable fuel pressure regulator and Walbro 255 pump, So I know the fuel has potential of getting there. As for ignition yes I am running a completely stock one..So that's pretty much the problem I think I'm going to have to lean to on this. The stock gap on my plugs are like .055'' I think...but I gapped them down to .042'' and like I said, that helped it a lot before I done all this. As for me tuning the car, I'm gonna take it somewhere. Any suggestions there? I don't have the patience to do it myself.

I still think you should try a copper plug. From what I've read your really not supposed to gap Iriduim plugs because you can damage the tip due to it being extremely fine. I gap mine at .025 but my stock gap is .028-.032. I'm also running the HKS DLII ignition.

Alright, I'll try a copper one. See what happens there. Any suggestions on a good ignition system for a Mitsubishi/Chrysler?

I'm really not sure for your motor but MSD and HKS makes a plug and play unit for the 4g63. Another more expensive option would be a COP system.

TORQUERULES- 02-06-2006

Just got with the MSD, it is proven and will be affordable. Try the lower gap for sure. Also try some NGK irridium plugs (you can gap them).

Is MSD stuff hard to install, like the power distrubutor or whatever its called. I know MSD makes a coil pack and 9mm wires for my car. You think that would be worth it?

Is MSD stuff hard to install, like the power distrubutor or whatever its called. I know MSD makes a coil pack and 9mm wires for my car. You think that would be worth it? They make DIS ignitions. But, they aren't the only ones making them: Mallory, Crane, Accel, etc. All good choices.

Its fuel or spark. I would narrow the gap to atleast .035

A gap that small wont hurt nothing?

TORQUERULES- 02-06-2006

With FI that is what you ned to keep from blowing out the spark.
