Ford/Mazda swaps
I'm looking into the future for a project car for me once I get some money and a place to put it. I'm wanting to do something along the lines of a small, light sleeper of sorts. What do you Ford and Mazda guys know about the possibility of swapping in a BPD, BPT, or B6T Mazda engine in either a Ford Festiva or Ford Escort (80's, early 90's)? I saw a video on streetfire of a Festiva with a B6T engine that made 170 something whp and wftlbs. The whole car weighed almost 1900 pounds, so I figure it would be pretty quick. I'd like to do something like this, but I don't know how difficult it would be to A. get the engine itself, B. drop it in the car, C. how much it would cost. I don't even know what transmission to use if I did this. So can anybody endulge me or at least give me some site where I can find the info myself?

I had a buddy you had an Escort GT 1.8. It was pretty cool. I supose you could drop a Consworth motor in there. I don't see why you couldn't. The turbo motor from the 323 fit in the Festiva, bolts in. I actually like the mx-3's with the V6s. Don't have to swap anything there. I'm not sure how much power you can get from that little 2.6 (I think), but it sounds nice. The Escort is going to give you your best aftermarket support, but the Festiva is a close second. Turboing the 1.8 wouldn't be hard, but find one might be. But not much harder than finding a 323 Turbo motor, especially for any decent price. Here's another link to engines that can swap into different years of Escorts. Also, a good site for looking up info. http://www.feoa.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=23293

Cool, thanks. I'll look into that. I still don't know what the hell I wanna do, but I'm just learning more about my options.
