If there is a way to wiggle those f*ckers on without dropping everything, I'll find it. Damn. That looks like an ass load of work! it's faster than trying to wiggle them in, trust me. if you get all the tools out that i just posted & follow that you'll be on your way. i can drop my k-member in roughly 30-40 minutes now (taking the a-arms off too), assuming i'm not screwing around

Sounds like you've been there done it. The last car I put headers on was a 1972 V8 Vega. They were 3 piece.

I considered longtubes but After looking at Dyno info, I opted for the shorties. The longtubes create a little more HP but TQ suffers. Very little and the hp more than makes up for it. You gain torque with longtubes but not as much as you do hp. With nitrous you make more torque then hp anyway. If anyone could benefit from long tubes it would be you with the nitrous setup.

You also have to consider scavenging benefits from big tube shorties. Actually that is of greater benefit to a NOS burn than the exhaust flow rate of long tubes would be (IMHO). A comparable set of long tubes, which would be SLPs cost $700 plus bucks. Thats $400.00 more than I paid for these shorties which are the best on the market. Ford racing stainless Jet Hot ceramics. These are $495.00 MSRP and I got a set NIB for 289.00 shipped. My point being, Is an extra 8 horsepower worth $410.00? No, I can buy 25 horsepower for 410.00 elsewhere on the car or I can lose an extra 30 pounds for $410.00. If I were supercharged I would have gone with the long tubes for sure. I also would have gone with long tubes If I were stroked or compression heavy. The shorties just made more sense to me for what I have. I'm also tightening up the old money belt a bit. I'm investing way too much in this car because I have put nothing but the best on it so far. I just couldn't bring myself to put BBK headers on it. If I were still in the spare no expense mode I would have preferred the JBA mid lengths. Damn, Those are nice headers.

I bought mine cheap. Just waiting to put them on.

I bought mine cheap. Just waiting to put them on. What exhaust are you running?

centennialstang- 06-17-2006

Well, I tore into it Today. It was hotter than a MFer but I got it done. Let it be known, I will never, ever install headers on a Mustang again as long as I live!

jivepepper- 06-17-2006

I bought mine cheap. Just waiting to put them on. What exhaust are you running? Mac long tubers and h pipe with their catback is what I will be running. I have about 260 in the long tubes, h pipe and o2 extenders. The headers are used and the h pipe is new. I already had the catback.
