It can still fire through those boots. They are just heat protection. They will not hold back the spark.

but im replacing the bad wire. why do i need a whole new set. my new FMS #3 wire be here tomorrow.

The one wire will be okay. I'd replace it with the same thing or equivalent though.

yea i got a buddy sending me the exact same wire. he had a #7 melt so he got a new set and kept the extra's for spares. so ill be getting a red FMS wire. :)
