Non-wideband A/F gauges useless I've been researching many things for my turbo project and I came across this site with a do-it-yourself A/F meter.
http://www.scirocco.org/tech/misc/afgauge/af.html
Notice at the bottom there is a listing of voltages-to-A/F values, and they make perfect sense to me.
The typical O2 sensor reads from 0-1v, and according to this guy .5v is 14.7:1 A/F.
That would read out "ideal, good, stoich" etc on your gauge.
1v is around 12:1, which is still lean for forced induction.
That would read "rich" on your gauge.
So for us guys who take an N/A car and slap on a turbo, don't expect an off-the shelf A/F gauge to be any use to you.
I'm quite sure some of you know this, but I'm throwing it out there for us turbo newbies.
For the N/A guys I bet the typical A/F gauge works perfectly fine.
I guess the FI guys need a wideband.
Discuss! :D

Wow you completely missed the point of my post.
I'm trying to steer people away from the cheapo A/F gauges who are FI.

a wideband is a must. no questions asked.

THe narrowband A/F gauges are just a pretty light show. Whether you are NA, Supercharged, or Turbo they are totally worthless. Wideband or bust.
