Oil Starvation & Bearings
honda, d16y8 engine.. I am posting this for good knowledge about what not changing your oil, and or oil starvation can do to your engine.. Today at work, guy comes in, says engine is making a noise.. So the service writer says lets see if a valve adjustment would help. Well while bringing the car around to pull it into my bay i failed to notice any noise at all.. Well i proceed with the valve adjustment, again, all within spec, but still set them at min. 007" IN and .009" EX. go out, test drive vehicle.. and knocking like a sob.. damn service writer. bring it back in, start pulling plug wires.. pull #4 wire, knock goes away.. what does this do you ask? unloads the rod, so its just kinda "rotating freely" i guess you could say.. put it on the lift, drop the manifold, engine stiffner, oil pan..rotate the crank, everything seems good.. then pry the crank, alot of play in the thrust washers, ok well, pulled the main girdle off, inspected the main bearings, they were starting to go too..again will post pics as thread progresses.. So here are some pics, i didnt get to take more pics or i would have uploaded them, sorry for the. shitty quality..I forgot the #4 rod cap and bearing to take pics..will post tomorrow. This is the direct result of oil starvation and or lack of oil changes.. Notice my JDM yellow safety glasses in the corner

i will post more pics 2mro when i go back into work and tear some more of the engine down and out of the car..
