Royal Purple $$$$
I just got 6 quarts of Royal purple for an oil change in the Stang. $70.00 for oil? OUCH! That doesn't even count the mobil1 filter. Does anyone else use this stuff? Hope it's worth it.

Motorcraft oil filter and dino oil . I used to use mobil 1.

Royal Purple is laughing all the way to the bank. Its snake oil at best. If you want some good oil go with Amsoil or Redline.

Run Royal Purple in your car and watch it turn black as coal and thin out. If you really want to get the info on it, send a sample off after you change it for an analysis. I've seen ALOT of bad reviews on RP because of its likelihood to shear. The racing oil isn't as bad, but its also more expensive (last time I checked). Here's a link to information on oil shearing http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/oilshear.htm Personally though, I'd go with Amsoil, Redline or even Castrol.

Thanks for the info. I wish I had posted before buying.

Its not the WORST oil, just over priced and over hyped. Most of the oil industry is just hype anyways. Its VERY easy to get sucked in.

If I wanted to blow a wad of cash on oil I'd probably get Amsoil... but from what I've read Mobil 1 is almost as good. www.bobistheoilguy.com has tons of crap like that on there.

I have been using mobil 1, I used to use the castrol syntec.

Well I know of a guy that has his own Mach 1 website. its the mach 1 review. he dyno'd his car stock and then dyno'd it again with only an oil change with RP. He gained 14 hp. I dyno'd my Mach 1 with only a k&n air filter and RP OIL and put down 278 hp and 304 ft lbs. more than another guy there that day with a CAI and chip. I have a friend that used RP in his WRX. His car runs cooler and gets better gas mileage. IMO its worth the price!

14 bhp or whp? Even still, from OIL?! :?

Mobil 1 all the way. I had a 3.8 V-6 swapped ranger once with a remote oil filter and the oil lines blew on the interstate going to Morgantown. I actually didn't notice until I happened to glance at the oil pressure gauge and it was saying: "Hey dude! You are fucked!." I pulled over and the dipstick took no reading. Hoofed to a gas station bought some oil and clamps started her up and went on my way. I rebuilt it at 150K to upgrade pistons, cam, etc. and the bearings looked great and the crank and bores checked okay. My Mom did the same with her V-8 Ranger (though she never lost oil pressure and lost only about 3 quarts, but again everything was fine. We now have brades lines and AN fittings on that sort of stuff :) Also, the myth that you can't break-in an engine on synthetic is just that a myth. I have done it twice after talking to Mobil 1 techs, and there is no difference between regular oil break-in and synthetic oil break-in.
