stupid question
Here's a stupid question for you. Recently I noticed a squeaking, and I think it's coming from my front driver's side brake. I took the wheels off and cleaned the brakes and brake pads with some spray-on brake cleaner about a couple weeks ago. It worked until yesterday when I heard the squeaking start again. What do you think this might be? Do you think I might need new brake pads or would I need new brakes? I've heard the stock brakes on Foci sometimes don't last past 15,000 miles, and I have almost 65,000 miles already. Edit: I forgot to mention that this ocurrs all the time, not just under braking. In fact, I hear it go away some times when I apply the brakes.

Could be the friction material wearing to the "squeak indicators" (an area where the factory brakes wear to the point that there is contact, on the caliper usually, with either soft metal or another material) that will make a squeak. Also, the friction material may be loose on the backing plate and this is moving around. Also, could be a wheel bearing... Also, could be brake caliper bushings worn...

I think your brakes my be barely rubbing on the caliper as you drive and putting pressure on them when you brake ends the noise. After 65,000 miles, I say suck it up and change the pads

Get some Hawk HPS or EBC green stuff and get rid of the brake dust for good.

OK, I'll try that as soon as I get the money, haha.

^^^^Why the laugh? I suppose you would use stock? I've never used the EBC (they are just a suggestion), but I have had great results with Hawk pads.

I figured so. I haven't heard anyone complain about either. Just wondering if you were having a brain-fart or something.

Just put the sil-glyde or moly lube to them. That will shut it up.
