what's safe to spray?
how much nitrous could I safely put on a stock 2002 gt with 63,000 miles?

jivepepper- 05-28-2006

About a 125 shot if everything is set up right, Some do a 150 but that is pushing it on a stock short block.

blownblueoval- 05-28-2006

so I can be safe with it even though the car has 62,000 on it?

jivepepper- 05-29-2006

62000 is a young motor. I supercharged at 100K. I would just make sure you had a good tune, You have to retard the timing and a 1 step colder copper plug. Have the air fuel ratio checked on a dyno would be good too.

I only went one step colder for a 150 shot. Wait...I mean I don't have nitrous.

how much nitrous could I safely put on a stock 2002 gt with 63,000 miles? 100HP on the stock fuel pumps. No more, otherwise you'll be lean as heck....... I've got 2 brand new focus pumps if you'd like to buy one..lemme know. I can also show you my dyno runs air/fuel charts when I sprayed on the stock pumps..... Definatley retard the timing at least 1 degree and the one step colder on the plugs is a good idea as well.

so I can be safe with it even though the car has 62,000 on it? If you blow a hole in the block I think Jive was selling an old one.

whatever you do, dont run a 125shot, and run a 13.1 in a LT1, and have your car catch on fire like someone did up here @ MIR.. lol sorry for the degression.. but, id stay around 100shot with stock fuel setup..and some colder plugs, maybe timing? wtf do i know about fords lol

TORQUERULES- 05-29-2006

100 is safe with no other changes.

bigdaddy87turbotang- 05-29-2006

I say stay low say around a 75hp dry shot, and learn how to drive the car better. You need to upgrade the pump and run a colder plug if you go above 100 dry. If you go with a wet kit you can go with 100 to 125 to start with. My 01 GT and Billtec's both ran 9.0's all day with nothing but flowmasters. 2.0 60'fts. should be easy on the street tires. Mine ran 8.55 the 4th day I had it on a 60hp dry shot. I only ran it twice 8.71 and 8.55.

Thanks for the plug. I say stay low say around a 75hp dry shot, and learn how to drive the car better. You need to upgrade the pump and run a colder plug if you go above 100 dry. bigdaddy87turbotang- 05-30-2006

Yeah the new stang has the bottle on it already. It ran 8.00 with a crappy safe tune and a 75 shot. I was referring to my 01 GT that ran the 8.55 on the juice. I only ran it twice at the track with the nitrous. I will get a tune soon for the 06'. I'm looking for about 7.85 or so with the tires on it. I've got some MT ET Streets on another set of rims. I have had almost everything I've ever owned on the bottle since 1994.

TORQUERULES- 05-30-2006

My opinion is based on a wet kit BTW. I don't trust the dry kits.

bigdaddy87turbotang- 05-30-2006

Dry kits are just as effective as the wet kits. In my opinion they "hit" harder. I've had carbed plate kits, dry, and wet efi setups you name it. I have some experience with every major brand kit out there. All of them make for great improvements, all should be taken seriously, and you should always follow the instructions when it comes to tuning. Don't worry the worst thing I've done on the bottle is split the block.
